Ingredients

Chicken

  • lb boneless chicken thighs or breast cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Breading
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper

Orange Sauce

  • ¾ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

For Frying

  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • Marinate chicken with soy sauce, egg, and garlic for 10 minutes.
  • Combine breading ingredients and coat chicken thoroughly.
  • Fry chicken at 350°F until crispy and golden; set aside.
  • Simmer all orange sauce ingredients except slurry.
  • Add cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.
  • Toss fried chicken in sauce until evenly coated.
  • Serve immediately with garnish.
